Cyber Bullying: Ramifications for Ontario Principals

Recently I have posted a few presentations from my Principal’s Qualfication Program, Part 1 course.  This presentation examines the legal ramifications of cyber bullying: student to student, and student to teacher.  The safe schools section of the Education Act in Ontario, Canada is the lens through which certain cases are viewed.  The seminal case, Killion vs. Franklin Regional School District (2001), is then examined to see the limits of a school’s power.

Personal Devices on School / District Networks

Recently I created a google survey that asked if educators were allowed to connect personal devices to their district / school networks. Fifty-five educators from around the world, literally, responded. The results were half and half. Thank you to everyone who shared their information.

What are your thoughts? Should personal devices be allowed on school networks?

The past two days are full of great conversations and sessions at the Teacher2Teacher Conference in Bow Island, Alberta, Canada.  There are hundreds of teachers in this place that reminds me of home (beans are a key agricultural product in both).
